NEW LEADERSHIP
FOR A NEW ECONOMY

New Leadership for the New Economy means investing in our workers, our small businesses, and our community. This means supporting small business owners and working families and making sure our district is building a bridge towards the future.

I support:

 1. An $18 minimum wage

  • The minimum wage should be readjusted more frequently as the standard of living increases

2. Fighting against wage theft

  • Stop large corporations and businesses who refuse overtime pay and mis-classify employees

  • Wage theft impacts those working in the service industry, home healthcare workers, and other hourly wage workers who are
the most vulnerable in our workforce, especially during COVID-19.

3. Unions & collective bargaining

  • Congress should be taking a worker’s first approach with comparable wage, improvement of benefits, and other protections to  improve a worker’s quality of life.

4. More accessible lending to small business owners, particularly people of color in underserved communities who face significant barriers accessing capital from necessary traditional banking institutions

5. Appropriate emergency funding to replenish the Restaurant Revitalization Fund to reach the more than 180,000 RRF applications that remain unfunded

6. Create competition in the market

  • Re-defining business activities that lay the groundwork for monopolistic practice

  • Stopping big corporations from buying up smaller companies and monopolizing an industry so that smaller businesses have a chance to get off the ground and be successful.

  • Updating archaic antitrust criteria so that it reflects the economy of today
